*Call to Worship
One: In the beginning when God created
All: A wind swept over the waters,
A breath warmed the dark voids,
A Spirit called forth creation.
One: God gave in grace:
All: Let there be light for all to
see,
Let there be water for all to
splash in,
Let there be life in the midst
of death
Yes, let there be life beyond
death.
One: And God invited and invites us to
respond, rejoicing!
All:
It was good,
It was awesome and awe-filled,
One: It is good.

Remembering Our Baptism
Silent Prayer / Pastoral Prayer / Lord’s Prayer
Our
Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the
power and the glory forever. Amen.

Offering Prayer
Holy God of redemption and transformation,
this morning we remember the baptism of Jesus, as well as our own. Though there
was nothing in your son that needed cleansing, we know our insides are not that
clear. We have dark, dirty corners that cannot be redeemed through gifts of
money or good deeds. Only as we accept and acknowledge your gifts of grace
through Christ can we be made clean, healthy, and whole. We give as those who
are dependent on your grace, and we pray that our gifts will help others know the
cleansing power of grace as well. In the name of Christ who died for us, we
pray. Amen.

*Responsive Benediction
Leader:
Once again we have been refreshed by the waters of baptism.
People: Let it be so now; for it is proper
for us, in this way, to fulfill all righteousness.
Leader:
The heavens are opened to you, the Holy Spirit is available to you, and God
affirms, “You are my beloved, well-pleasing in my sight!”
People: May it always be so! Amen.
*Hymn “I Love to Tell
the Story” (refrain only) #156
I love to tell the story, ‘twill be my theme in glory, to tell the old,
old story of Jesus and his love.
