Opening Psalm
Psalm
91:1-2, 9-16
*Call to Worship
One: The
God of our ancestors heard our cries and saw our oppression when we were slaves
in Egypt.
All: God brought us out with a mighty hand and an
outstretched arm,
with signs and wonders God brought us through the
wilderness.
One: The
Lord, our shelter, our refuge, our dwelling place, says,
All: “When my people call to me, I will answer
them;
I will
be with them in trouble;
I will
show them my salvation.”
*Hymn “O
God, Our Help in Ages Past” #117
*Opening Prayer
God
Most High, thank you for signs of your power and grace,
shown to us even in the wilderness.
Give us
courage to stand firm in your Word
in every time of trial and testing,
that we may enter the land of your freedom and
receive the salvation you so generously give;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
*Chorus “There’s Something About That Name” #171
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! There's just something
about that name
Master, Savior, Jesus! Like the fragrance
after the rain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! Let all heaven and
earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away, but
there's something about that name.
