Congregational Prayer

Creator God, you set a path before us.  We admit we often stray from this path.  We hold

grudges against friends and neighbors. Our internal prejudices and stereotypes hurt others.

We devalue the life of those who are hungry and homeless. Help us to be like Samuel,

who answered when he heard you calling in the night, and like Esther,

who put the safety of her people before her own.  Help us to be like

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who fought racial injustice with actions of peace and love,

and like Mother Teresa, who cared for the sick and fed the poor.  Help us to be the disciples

that your Son, Jesus Christ, called us to be so we may walk securely together toward your reign. Amen.

Silent Prayer / Pastoral Prayer / Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.
