Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

Congregational Prayer

Lord, you who we pretend to know so well

in our creeds, in our prayers, in our masquerades:

Today, we want to see Jesus.

Today, we want to experience the Holy Spirit's presence.

Today, we come to worship you.

Help us be real. Help us be ready. Help us be honest.

Because we need you,

We need you here,

in our hearts be Priest, hearing our confessions,

in our minds be King of our thoughts,

in our lives be Prophetic voice and action.  Amen.

Prayer Hymn                    “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling”                                #348

Silent Prayer / Pastoral Prayer / Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it

is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass

against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and

 the glory forever.  Amen.

*Offering Prayer

God of Majesty and Might, you sent your son into our midst to teach us of your kingdom, a kingdom

like the world has never known. He came as a King of Kings, one we had never seen before and have

not seen since. Not born in a stable but in a donkey stall; not a king of wealth and possessions, but a

king rich only in truth and forgiveness. May our gifts this day reflect our allegiance to a king who

came to demonstrate a reign built not on laws or whims, but on love and compassion for all. We pray

in the name of the king of Kings. Amen.
