Mifflin Avenue United Methodist Church

The Witness Team is looking for some members to volunteer as mentors for regular visitors and prospective members.  As a congregation we each play a valuable role in welcoming new visitors and helping regular visitors to feel comfortable at our worship service and at other church events.  It you have a special interest in using your spiritual gift of hospitality and teaching to develop a one-to-one relationship with someone who is not a member, we could use your talents and just a little bit of your time.   A brief training will be required to help identify your roll as a “Mifflin Mentor” and you will eventually be matched with a new person who is attending church and has requested a mentor.  This new program is designed to assist visitors in getting to know our community, our people and our programs,as we get to know them and their individual needs and interests. You can become a “discipleship partner” by praying for your new friends and guiding them toward resources for their spiritual growth. We hope this will be an example of living as sisters and brothers in Christ.

Ash Wednesday Worship

Worship will be held on Wednesday, February 22 at 7 pm in the St. Luke Chapel in observance of Ash Wednesday, as we begin our journey through Lent together.  Worship will include the imposition of ashes and prayers of confession and pardon.

The Regent Square Civic Association, in conjunction with the Greater Park Place Neighborhood Association, will be having its 5th annual Home Improvement Workshop at Mifflin Avenue United Methodist Church.  The workshop will be held on Saturday, March 24th, 10a.m. to 12 p.m. (doors open at 9:30). Free-everyone welcome. Please use side door on Whitney. The title for this year’s workshop is:  Exteriors 101 – Adding Value to Your Home and Community; focusing on masonry, siding, painting, colors.
